What the clinical work actually involves
Whether the case is a single animal or a whole herd, the same standard of technical care applies.
- Nursing care and recovery
- Day-to-day nursing for animals under treatment — wound care, dressings and bandage changes, and the rehabilitation work that gets an animal back on its feet after injury or illness.
- Safe handling and restraint
- Calm, correct handling of animals through examination, treatment and surgery, so a procedure is safe for the animal and for everyone working on it.
- Imaging and laboratory testing
- Radiographs taken on site, samples collected and run, and results worked up to support an accurate diagnosis rather than a guess.
- Surgical support
- Theatre and instruments prepared before a procedure, anaesthesia given and monitored throughout it, and the theatre cleaned down and reset afterwards.
- Medication and vaccination
- Drugs and vaccines prepared and administered on veterinary instruction, with prescribed courses followed through to the end rather than abandoned halfway.
- Routine husbandry procedures
- The jobs a working farm needs done properly: animal identification and tagging, hoof trimming, and routine dental work on animals that need it.
- Advice for owners and farmers
- Practical guidance on feeding, nutrition and home or on-farm care, so an animal keeps improving between one visit and the next.
- Laboratory and records support
- Assistance with laboratory studies and field research, backed by the case files and practice records that keep every animal’s history traceable.

Reproduction is the practice’s special interest, and we handle the whole cycle rather than one step of it.
- Estrus Synchronisation
- Bring a group of females into heat together, so breeding, calving and kidding happen on a schedule you can plan labour and feed around.
- Semen Analysis
- Motility, concentration and morphology assessed before semen is used or stored — no breeding season wasted on a straw that was never viable.
- Artificial Insemination
- Insemination with quality-checked semen, timed to the female's own cycle for the best chance of conception at first service.
- Infertility Diagnosis & Treatment
- A structured work-up on females that will not settle and males that are not siring — then treatment of the cause rather than guesswork.

Dr. Rom Veterinary Services has been a registered veterinary practice in Nigeria since March 2019, with its head office in Idi Ishin, Ibadan and regular work in Lagos. It is led by Dr. Obafemi Oluropo Michael, whose expertise covers animal health, animal production and animal reproduction.
Clients range from commercial livestock farms to smallholders and individual animal owners. The work runs from routine herd health and husbandry advice through to the full reproduction service — estrus synchronisation, semen analysis, artificial insemination, and infertility diagnosis and treatment.
